We make every effort to keep these offers up to date but highly recommend that you double check these programs as they sometimes change without notice.
Savings and Rebate Programs:
Utility Rebates
New Jersey’s rebates for high-efficiency heating, cooling and water heating equipment are now offered directly by your electric and gas utilities. The rebates you can get depend on who supplies your electricity and your gas. If you’re not sure, use the utility finder on New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program. Amounts below are as listed by each utility on October 1, 2026.
JCP&L (electric)
Rebates on qualifying ENERGY STAR air-source heat pumps ($500 to $1,000; the top amount is for cold-climate models), ductless mini-split heat pumps ($750), central air conditioners ($100 to $200) and heat pump water heaters ($750). Equipment must be purchased and installed between January 1, 2025 and June 30, 2027.
PSE&G (electric and gas)
Instant rebates through participating contractors on qualifying gas furnaces ($540), gas boilers ($540 to $600), gas combination boilers ($780 to $1,050) and tankless water heaters ($300 to $450). Gas furnace and boiler rebates require replacing a non-condensing unit. Post-purchase rebates include $400 for qualifying gas storage water heaters, $500 for tankless water heaters and $750 for ENERGY STAR heat pump water heaters. The heat pump water heater rebate requires an active PSE&G residential electric account.
New Jersey Natural Gas
Up to $3,650 in rebates on qualifying high-efficiency HVAC and water heating equipment purchased and installed by June 30, 2027, plus 0% APR on-bill repayment for eligible customers. Furnace and boiler rebates require replacing a non-condensing unit.
Elizabethtown Gas
Rebates of up to $1,750 on eligible natural gas heating, cooling and water heating equipment installed by a participating contractor, plus 0% APR financing options.
Madison Electric Utility
The Borough of Madison offers its electric customers rebates for replacing gas, oil or propane heating and hot water systems with heat pumps ($600 to $1,000), ductless mini-splits ($400) and heat pump water heaters ($750), up to $2,000 per customer. The borough recommends applying before the work begins.
Federal Tax Credits
The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) and Residential Clean Energy Credit (25D) ended on December 31, 2025. They do not apply to equipment installed after that date.
